Event description
o An event called BrainLink supported by the KOFST (Korea Federation of Science and Technology) to form international research networking and revitalize technology exchange by holding exchange meetings in each core technology field between overseas distinguished scholars and domestic scholars, mid-careers, and young researchers in Korea.
o Moving away from the one-time exchange format, it aims to develop a sustainable exchange network that can conduct global joint research.
Event overview
o Period: July 8th (Mon) - July 11th (Thurs), 2024
o Venue: Incheon Sheraton Grand Hotel, Republic of Korea
o Theme: Security, Privacy, and Trust in AI
o Purpose: Expand the international network to advance the development of safe and reliable technologies by inviting world-class scholars in the AI/cybersecurity field.
How it works
o Consisting of 40 overseas and domestic scientists (10 overseas scientists, 20 domestic scholars, mid-career and young scientists, 10 postdocs and doctoral students)
1. Overseas Organizer: Dr. Jason Xue (CSIRO Data61, Australia)
2. Domestic Organizer: Prof. Seong Oun Hwang (Department of Computer Engineering, Gachon University, Korea)
o Technology exchange session operation
1. Latest technology exchange: Provides insight and latest trends in related research fields
2. Research process exchange: Discussion on research methodology and establishment of an international joint research environment
Anticipated outcomes
o Exchange research ideas and share latest trends in the emerging areas of trustworthy AI and cybersecurity between domestic and international interdisciplinary researchers.
o Establish a research collaboration network between domestic and international scientists in trustworthy AI and cybersecurity, with potential outcomes such as initiations of joint research proposals and projects, and MOU.
o Early career researchers can learn best practices of research networking and advice about research methodologies and career from the more senior panel members.
o Conduct joint research between participants (dispatch of researchers, seminar invitation, joint papers and patent writing, etc.)
Introduction to overseas scientists
o 6 distinguished scholars, 2 mid-careers, and 2 young scientists who presented influential papers at top conferences and journals in a wide range of research fields, including AI/LLM security, AI hardware security, AI software security, and AI application security, and received excellent paper awards, actively working as editors
